Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party 2015 Review
We made the trip over to the house of the mouse recently to attend the annual Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. This annual add-on ticketed event is a fan favorite and one that we look forward to each year.
MNSSHP is always a treat for Disney fans, with rare characters out for meet and greets, plenty of candy for trick or treating around the park, and some of the best parades and fireworks that are offered throughout the year. We attended the event on a non-sellout night and found the park still packed to the brim with kids of all ages dressed in a variety of costumes.
Our night started with making rounds of candy hunting while on the route to hit rides that normally have much longer wait times. Along the way, we ran into the Cadaver Dans in Frontierland performing some ghoulish favorites. We took in Mickey’s Boo To You Parade outside of Pecos Bills and found the location to not be overly crowded. Leading the parade was the Headless Horseman, which is a personal favorite and can’t miss of the VFTCS crew. Parade highlights included a Haunted Mansion section along with some of our favorite villains (Oogie Boogie, anyone?).
Following the parade, we headed over to the castle hub to check out the new Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular. This brief stage show is a wonderful addition to MNSSHP and adds a way to bring the classic characters from Hocus Pocus back into the spotlight while also directing focus to fan favorite Halloween baddies.
After sitting through the normal Celebrate the Magic show, we anxiously awaited the best fireworks at Magic Kingdom outside of the 4th of July, in Hallowishes. No matter how many times we see the Hallowishes show, we are always left wanting more as the show includes great theming around the Haunted Mansion and Nightmare Before Christmas.
With a couple of hours left in the night, we were able to wait on a special character meet and greet with Winnie the Pooh and friends in their Halloween costumes as well as a special magic photo op outside of the Haunted Mansion with a ghost driving the mansion’s carriage. We were also greeted outside of the mansion by Lady Renata, and we were treated to some funny conversation as well. We wrapped the night with more trick or treating as well as a trip on Space Mountain.
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a fantastic family friendly event at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom that runs from 9/15/15 – 11/1/15. Pricing and specific dates can be found on Disney’s website. If attending the party, our best suggestion is to plan ahead as time moves quickly at the party and you will want to leave yourself at least 30 minutes prior to each major event that you would like to attend (parade, fireworks, shows).
Our video recap of the event is below as well as pictures from our trip.
