Anvil Live at West End Trading Co.

For the 2nd time in the last year, Anvil brought their Canadian Heavy Metal stylings to Central Florida when the band played a full set at Sanford’s West End Trading Co. This was our first time checking out Anvil live and based on their 2008 unintentionally (?) funny documentary, “Anvil: The Story of Anvil”, we weren’t sure what to expect.

Despite a modest turnout at West End, Anvil delivered a headliner worthy set of classics that spanned their 30+ year career. The crowd ate up every song that was usually delivered with a story recanting how the song was inspired. Highlights of the night included Lips recanting a story of Ozzy approaching him at an awards show to congratulate him on the documentary, as well as the set closer, “Metal On Metal”.

Anvil displayed tongue in cheek humor throughout their set with anecdotes from the past 30 years, but more so came to rock, and rock they did. Catch Anvil on tour in a city near you in 2015.
